About the Book

Are you experiencing the lost of someone you love that has fallen prey to dementia; namely Alzheimer’s? Are you unsure of what the next step is? Do you yearn for answers? Be aware, you are not alone.

This book is designed to share with its readers the emotions, the struggles and some solutions to what can devastate a family when a member has been issued this fate. You will come to realize that there is a ‘Safe Place’ for each victim. You can find comfort in knowing that there is one who cares about you and your loved one. It is all in getting an understanding of who God is and what the disease is all about.

Though I do not claim to know all of the answers, you will find similar situations that compare to your own and how my father, siblings and I handled the challenges. “A Safe Place for Mama” was written with sudden burst of laughter and occasional warm tears of painful memories while being assured that God is in charge of it all. You will learn to trust Him. It can bring you closer to the loved one as you begin to unravel mysteries and accept realities. It will bring you closer to God as your trust and your faith in Him increases.

It is my strong desire that as you read this book, you will be inspired and strengthened to face the unfamiliar; remembering that there is nothing too hard for God!

May you find a peace that will surpass all understanding!

Overseer Gladys Kepney White is the Founder and President of FAVOR Ministries, Inc., a ministry birthed from a sincere love for God’s people with a strong desire to aid those who are in need. Overseer White is a member of Nazaree Full Gospel Church, under the leadership of Bishop Joseph D Phillips. She was ordained September 12, 1999 at her home church. She earned her BS Degree at Southern University, Baton Rouge, LA and a certificate of completion from Birmingham Baptist College. She is a 1998 graduate of The Citadel Bible Institute and completed postgraduate studies in 1999. Elder White earned a Bachelor of Theology Degree from Faith and Fire Bible School, Mobile, AL. As an Evangelist, God has opened doors in nearly every denomination to preach the gospel. She believes the mission of the Church is to evangelize the world and those who do this must be taught the way of our God and His plan of salvation. Overseer White currently works for the Alabama Medicaid Agency as an Eligibility Specialist. She worked 13 years with the Department of Human Resources. She has been married to James H. White, Jr. for over 31 years. They have 3 talented children, Eboni Nikol, James Harris (Nicole) and Jeryme Charlz; two grandchildren Jayln Nikol and Timothy French. Her favorite scripture is Romans 12:1, “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world; but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God”; a scripture that describes well her mother’s role on earth and encouraged the writing of this book.
