It must be admitted that in rhetorical effect, this address is not equal to some others which Luke reports in some de tail; but it is of marked interest as the first statement of any length in Paul's own words in defense of the Christian faith. It is a cogent argument moreover to the Jews in support of the Messiah ship of Jesus; he says, We declare unto you glad tidings how that the promise that was made unto the fathers, God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children. Paul also gives strong em phasis to one of the cardinal points in the Christian faith - the resurrection of Jesus, fully attested to by a large group of disciples who are his witnesses.
