LESSON. Acts x. 42. 48.

[N those days: Peter opening his mouth, said: Brethren, the Lord commanded us to preach to the people, and to testify, that it is he, who is appointed by God, the judge of the living and the dead. To him all the Prophets bear witness, that whoever believeth in him, shall, through his name, obtain pardon of their sins. While Peter was yet speaking these words, the Holy Ghost came upon all that heard the word. And the faithful of the circumcision, who came with Peter, were astonished, for that the grace of the Holy Ghost was also poured upon the Gentiles; for they heard them speak new tongues, and glorify God. Then Peter said: Can any one forbid water, that these people should not be baptized, who have

received the Holy Ghost, even as we have? And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

GOSPEL. John iii. 16. 21.

T that time: Jesus said to Nicodemus: God hath so loved the world, as to give his only Son, that whoever believeth in him, may not perish, but may have eternal life. For God sent not his Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved by him. He that believeth in him, is not judged at all; but he that believeth not in him, is already judged; because he believeth not in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And the judgment is this: because the light is come into the world, and men loved darkness more than light, because their works were evil. For every one that doth evil, hateth the light, and cometh not to the light, that his works may not be reproved: but he that doth the truth, cometh to the light, that his works may be seen, because they were done in God CREDO.

GOSPEL. John x. 1.10.

Verily,

T that time: Jesus said to the Pharisees : verily, I say to you: He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way is a thief and a robber. But he that entereth by the door, is the shepherd of the sheep. To him the porter openeth the door, and the sheep hear his voice, and he calleth his own sheep by their names, and leadeth them out. And when he leadeth out his own sheep, he goeth before them: and the sheep follow him, because they know his voice. But they follow not a stranger, but fly from him; because they know not the voice of strangers. "This parable Jesus spoke to them: but they understood not what he said to them. Jesus therefore said to them again: Verily, verily, I say to you: I am the door of the sheep. All that have ever come, are thieves and robbers; and the sheep heard them not. I am the door; by me if any one entereth, he shall be saved: and he shall go in and out, and find pastures. The thief cometh only to kill, steal, and destroy. I am come, that they may have life, and have it more abundantly. CREDO.

I. LESSON.. Acts ii. 14. 21.

N those days: Peter standing up with the eleven, raised his voice, and said to them; Men of Judea, and all you that dwell in Jerusalem, be this known to you, and give ear to my words; for these men are not drunk, as you imagine, it being now but the third hour of the day; but this is what was foretold by the prophet Joel; And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith the Lord, I will pour out my spirit on all flesh, and your sons, and your daughters shall prophesy; and your young men shall see visions, and your old men dream dreams. And in those days I will pour out on my servants, and handmaids, my spirit, and they shall prophesy; and I will shew wonders in the heavens above, and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and vapour of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and public day of the Lord cometh. And it shall come to pass, that whoever calleth on the name of the Lord, shall be saved.

Alleluia. V. Ps. 32. The heavens were founded by the word of the Lord, and all their host by the breath of his mouth.

Here is said the Gloria in excelsis.
