The labor in the preparation of this work has been very great, as will be perceived by the immense amount of detail of which it is made up. The method of preparation is much more difficult than that employed by Emory. Extracts had to be made from the original sources in the same way, and then, the more difficult work to be performed of recasting the whole in minute and often perplexing detail. But, however dith cult the use of the plan to the author, it 15 confidently believed it will be found more simp e and valuable to the student than the former one.
