Tara McAdoo was born and raised in Alexander City, Alabama. She graduated from Benjamin Russell Senior High School and entered into the United States Army, where she has served for almost 19 years. In 2004, she deployed to Afghanistan in support of the Global War on Terrorism, where God inspired her to write the majority of this book. Along with military duties, she has served as a children's church leader and teacher, a praise and worship team member, in the women's and youth ministries, and as a deaconess. She is married to Darryl McAdoo and has three children, Darius, Darion, and Makayla.
