HARVARD COLLEGE LIBRARY
Entered according to Act of Congress, in the year 1845, by
in the Clerk's Office of the District Court of the District of Massachusetts.
PRINTERS TO THE UNIVERSITY.
TO THE THIRD EDITION.
THIS work has been prepared chiefly for Sunday Schools. Its character will be easily understood. It gives a connected account of the Saviour's ministry, in the language of the common version, printed in the form of other narratives. In the selection and arrangement, Carpenter's Harmony has been followed. A very few passages have been omitted; some because they form no part of the narrative, and could not, therefore, well be inserted; and others, because they are not suitable as lessons in the Sunday School. The references, at the foot of the pages, show what portions of each Gospel are employed, and the Inder points out the parallel passages.
The present edition is a reprint of the second, to the preface of which the reader is referred for a statement of the changes made from the first edition.
The Questions, printed separately, are intended to suggest and direct inquiry. The use of them in the manner pointed out in the directions prefixed, will, it is believed, be found of much service in giving to children clear ideas of the ministry of Jesus.
Those acquainted with the subject, know how difficult it is to prepare a work like the present, which, in regard to the order of events, shall be altogether satisfactory.
